# Explain the savings estimator

> Build an indicative comparison from reviewed customer inputs.

## Enter the baseline

Confirm annual consumption or the available usage evidence, average bill, tariff type, usage rates, daily supply charge and feed-in rate. Choose whether consumption means **household use** or **grid purchases shown on the bill**.

For an existing solar customer, grid imports alone do not measure all household demand. Check whether the existing system is retained and expanded or replaced.

## Review how the property uses energy

Select the relevant daytime/evening/overnight usage pattern and flexibility to shift loads. Review system size, battery capacity and the generation assumptions available. If interval data or annual statements are absent, explain the limits of a recent-bill estimate.

When plan search is available, match the retailer, plan and tariff and confirm the actual bill rates. If the plan is missing or does not match, use manual bill rates. A listed market plan is not proof of the customer's contract.

## Interpret the output

Read the current-cost baseline, estimated future costs and savings together. Check whether finance repayments, recurring benefits or other assumptions are included in the displayed comparison.

Generation, consumption timing, exports, battery losses and tariff changes can affect the result. Present it as an estimate rather than guaranteed savings or a fixed payback date.

## Before including it in the quote

Confirm inputs, resolve warnings and inspect the customer preview. If the inputs cannot support a useful comparison, use the available omit-savings option and explain why. Sent documents retain their issued assumptions.

## Example

A household buying 4,000 kWh from the grid while using its own solar consumes more than those grid purchases. Entering 4,000 kWh as total household use can distort a battery comparison. Select the correct consumption basis and review the existing-solar inputs.
